  2. Fill in our online audition registration form.
  3. We will contact you back and let you know if there are still audition places available.
  4. If there are no places left, keep watch on our Facebook page for future audition announcements. We can also keep you on a waiting list in the event of a cancellation.
  5. If there are still places left we will reply with confirmation of your child’s private audition date and time and other important helpful information.

HOW DO THE AUDITIONS RUN?

Each child has a minimum of 2 minutes and maximum 5 minutes for private audition. It will start with a brief interview with your child by the panel of judges present in the room. Your child will asked simple questions eg. name, favourite TV show, what they did on their last family holiday etc.

We encourage children to present a musical piece of their choice so they can relax and be themselves in a positive and fun environment. Keyword is that kids are having fun.

Your child is an exceptionally impressive ballerina, a sensational singer, a spectacular break dancer, an incredible musician, a brilliant actor and needs longer than 5 minutes, you will need to speak with our Event Coordinator at Reception so we can organize appropriate time slot for your child’s private audition.  No longer than 10 minutes will be allowed for any participant.

We have strict rules and regulations regarding safety, time restraints and routine content so please read the information we give you carefully.

Please note : ALL performers need to have prepared a routine showcasing their of talent in any way they wish (this may be a song, a dance number, a musical piece , or a dramatic monologue etc). Judges might ask the child to play a second piece, so its advised to have 2 pieces prepared for audition.

  • Performers must bring their own backing tracks (if required). Multimedia cable connection available at most venues (for phone/ipod to connect to studio speakers). Performers must and be prepared for carpet or floorboard surfaces.  Tap numbers may need to be soft shoe tap depending on venue.
  • Musicians please bring your own instruments in good condition including all accessories required.
  • Singers are encouraged to sing in their plain voice and are expected to learn their lyrics. Reading lyrics from a device/ paper may be allowed, however not preferred. Karaoke track is allowed for audition but will not be allowed for the concert. The child must be able to sing with live band. Singers must bring their karaoke track on a USB device.
  • Performers perform at own risk and DZYR MUSIC will not be liable for any injuries or damage to person or property.

ON THE DAY- WHAT TO BRING? WHAT TO WEAR?

A recent photo –
Each child will need to bring a clear RECENT PHOTO of themselves with them to their audition. This can be a colour photocopy if you prefer as it will not be returned. The back of the photo must contain their name and DOB. The photo will be stapled to your child’s registration paperwork and it is how we distinguish one child from another during the auditions so it’s crucial to the process. A school portrait type photo is ideal, as is a natural posed holiday snap. Please no Snapchat photos, dance school photos with stage makeup, or photos with friends in them etc. We need to be able to recognize your child easily for the purpose of the audition.

Payment:

Registration fee $10 should have been paid along with your child’s online registration, however if you did not make a payment, you will need to bring cash for the exact amount and pay in full before the audition begins.

Arrive on time
Arrive 5 minutes earlier than your audition time to check in, fill out our paperwork and hand in your photo, and make your payment (if not made online)

Dress smart
Clothing should be smart, comfortable and suitable for any talent solo requirements. All participants, especially dancers are expected to come fully dressed in their dancing costumes.

Make up?
Makeup is optional and not required at all for children under 15. Any makeup worn by older teenagers should be natural and understated.

Kids: Be prompt, full of personality and enjoy yourself!

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY AUDITION?

DZYR MUSIC will need time to study all the audition footage, paperwork and photos, then decide who we would like to offer places to in the concert.

Every child who auditioned will be contacted . . .

We’ll contact you via email. Please wait to be contacted, and please be patient with us; we would like to give your child every consideration and to do that we need to complete all our auditions in each location first in order to make our decisions.

If your child is offered a place in the concert . .

In our email to you we will receive a confirmation of selection, your rehearsal schedule with an acceptance letter which you need to sign and return to the organizers within stipulated time.

If your child was not offered a place in the concert. . .

Don’t be discouraged – Please explain to your child that there are many factors at play in our decision making…we need a good cross- section of different ages and skill sets.

There is usually not one specific ‘reason’ as to why they were not offered a place. It could be as simple as this: we saw 100 children who were ten years old and they all played the guitar and we couldn’t take them all!

Sometimes we have more places available in some age brackets than others, and that is dependent on who we are representing at the time. It does not mean your child is not talented or wouldn’t do well in the industry! Children are more than welcome and happily encouraged to re-audition at subsequent intakes.

Please note that it will not be part of the auditioning process to provide individual feedback. We ask that you respect our process and follow the guidelines above.

DZYR MUSIC also runs coaching sessions for children who would like to sharpen their talent with the expert artists of our band and learn key performance technique for live band concerts. Regular course fees will apply. Speak with our friendly team for details.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

As the band evolves, the talent criteria cannot be as easily defined.  An intriguing personality, a unique look, a special energy, a dazzling smile, a cheeky laugh, a glimpse of star potential can all be enough to receive an offer to join the DZYR BAND family.   We are really looking for talented children in every shape and form.  Ultimately we are looking for kids that love what they do, have true interest in the performing arts and have supportive parents who are willing to help them along the way.

WILL YOU TAKE ON EVERYBODY YOU AUDITION?

No. Offers for places are always limited. But, there’ll always be next time. Auditions are held every March and August. Your child is free to re-apply.

AM I OBLIGATED TO ACCEPT YOUR OFFER IF MY AUDITION IS SUCCESSFUL?

No. That is why we email you an acceptance form to accept, sign and return to organizers.
